Specifications
The CartopRetreat box is made of Marine Grade Aluminum, with Stainless Steel
Hinges & Hardware.
Our specially designed ladder is constructed of 6061 High Tensile “unbendable”
aluminum.
Our ladder is designed to provide leverage for the CartopRetreat (in opening &
closing), support for the opened box & ease of entry & exit, into the tent. The
ladders’ width makes entering & exiting the CartopRetreat feel comfortable, for
those with elevation anxieties! Even small children can master the climbing in
& out, in short order. It’s no different than climbing a bunk bed!
We have designed & built 2 CartopRetreat sizes to date. The Larger boxes seen
on the Syncro & Tahoe, while designed to fit the entire top surface of the
Syncro, ended up being Too Large for even the Tahoe’s roof line.
As a result, the CartopRetreat listed below, is the size best suited for most
all SUV’s, Minivan’s, Full Size Van’s & Wagons. The CartopRetreat fits on &
looks great on smaller vehicles such as the Ford Focus wagon & Subaru Forester.

Exterior measurements closed:
The CartopRetreat measures in at about 4’ 5” wide X 7’ long X 9 1/2” tall.
This translates to about 133 cm wide X 215 cm long X 24 cm top to bottom
With the ladder attached, the CartopRetreat measures about 12” tall.
For height restrictive situations, such as Ferry Crossings or Garage door
openings, we have found it quick & easy, to remove the CartopRetreat ladder,
thereby saving about 3” or 8 cm in height.
The Tent component of the CartopRetreat is made of ‘Sunbrella’™ material.
This material is the fabric of choice by most all upholsterers, for outdoor
applications.
The Sunbrella material breathes well, yet is fantastic when it comes to being
water proof & mildew resistant.
During typical camping usage, the Sunbrella material will last indefinitely.
All Zippers are of the type YYK™, with large teeth that prevents snagging &
wear. There is no need to be concerned with rusting as well.
The CartopRetreats’ window screens are all constructed of a Fiberglass type
mesh... flexible & long lasting.

We have designed & built our product to be Super Strong, Light Weight & Long
Lasting!
